Urban Ladder faces sudden exodus of top level executives

Urban Ladder, the online furniture store, has been hit by an exodus of senior executives in the last one month when the firm is suffering from slowdown in business and undergoing a rebranding exercise. In recent future, numerous executives such as Rushabh Sanghavi, VP Category and Sourcing; Nikhil Ramprakash, VP Sales and Online marketing; Parag Shah, VP Fitouts, urban interiors and alliances; and Sanjay Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, had resigned. Last year also three prominent figures i.e. Chief Technology Officer Apurva Dalal; VP Product and Design, Kartikeya Misra; and VP Category management and growth, Prithvi Raj Tejavath had quit the company.

The startup, which has launched a new brand identity, is on course to widen offline distribution channels beyond company-owned centers. It is exploring offline channels and evolving into a furniture brand from an e-commerce store. One person close to the firm said that “Business has slowed down for Urban Ladder over the last 12 months. Sales have remained flat at Rs20-25 crore per month. The slowdown and recent pivot might have prompted these executives to take a call on their future with the company. Essentially, the entire senior management reporting to the founders barring Kaustabh Chakraborty, the operations head, have quit”.
