Uber orders immediate investigation into sexual harassment claims denting the startup’s image

Uber, world’s largest ride sharing firm, was rocked by sexual harassment claims by one of its former women employee, and has ordered immediate investigation to uncover the truth. Susan Fowler, an engineer who left Uber in December, wrote in a blog post that she was subjected to sexual advances through a ‘string of messages’ over the company’s chat software from the beginning of her employment in late 2015. Travis Kalanick, Uber’s CEO, said that “What she describes is abhorrent and against everything Uber stands for and believes in. There is no place for this kind of behavior at Uber and that anyone who behaves this way or thinks this is OK will be fired. I have instructed the company’s new Chief Human Resources Officer Liane Hornsey to conduct an urgent investigation into the allegation”.

Uber has been in rough waters in recent time with the sexual harassment claims now coming up after the company’s CEO was criticized for being part of Donald Trump’s Business Advisory Group. He eventually resigned from the post after being the target of social media campaigners.
