Tesla reportedly acquires automated manufacturing machine supplier Perbix

Tesla, the electric mobility leader, has recently acquired Perbix, an automated manufacturing machine supplier to help turn around its output challenges with the Model 3 production. The company has been working with Perbix from last few years, thus it was a strategic fit in its portfolio. The deal comes at a time when Tesla is incredibly focused on improving yield rates for its Model 3, which is well under its earlier productions in terms of production capacity at this point. During the recent earnings call, Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, commented that “I and CTO JB Straubel are essentially living at the Gigafactory to fix the bottlenecks in production. The major difficult has bene with one part of a four-part process in assembling the battery units”.

The electric mobility firm also stated that Model 3 has likely the most automated production line of any modern vehicle, which is part of why it’s taking so long to get it right. While the model is currently under all type of scrutiny for delays in production, the new deal is designed to improve overall manufacturing capacity for the firm.
