Silicon Valley yet to come to terms with Donald Trump’s elevation as POTUS

Donald Trump is the official president elect of the world’s most powerful country, and the renowned Silicon Valley is yet to come to terms with the groundbreaking event. Silicon Valley is the technological powerhouse of the world and is the epicenter of startup culture. However, Donald Trump was particularly unhappy with the firms outsourcing of American technological jobs to immigrants both inside and outside the country. With his rhetoric of restricting immigrants from working in USA, the tech industry will be the worst hit.

Due to his anti-industry stance, the technological hub was forced to get into a politically assertive role. The internet industry’s political donations to Democrats were 114 time that of Republicans i.e. Trump. Almost all the prominent faces of the industry, starting from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg to Salesforce’s Benioff and LinkedIn’s Reid Hoffman, took anti-Trump stances in a show of solidarity against the Republican candidate. Dustin Moskovitz, co-founded of Facebook, alone donated $20 million to the Democrats.

However, with Donal Trump now becoming the de facto president of USA, the tech industry needs to burn the hatchet and start accepting the new world order. It’s never too late to do anything.
