ShopClues focuses on fashion for next revenue growth cycle

ShopClues, one of the largest ecommerce firms in the domestic market, is increasingly focusing on fashion as its money spinning category. The company expects to breakeven in the fashion category in next couple of months. Radhika Aggarwal, Chief Business Officer of ShopClues, said that “Fashion is the first category that will start making money very soon. We are on course for achieving profitability for the company as a whole in the first or second quarter of the next financial year”.

Currently, the startup ships ~1.2 million orders a month within the fashion category, and claims to have doubled fashion shipments by two-and-a-half times over the past year. The primary reason behind such multifold shipment jump is ramping up investments in fashion space, particularly in developing technology around product personalization, discovery and analytic.

Fashion and lifestyle is undoubtedly one of the largest selling category for the firm, accounting for over 50% of gross merchandise value and proportional revenue. ShopClues is also working to bring many small brands on the platform. At present, ~40% of its merchants (~200,000 of the half a million merchants on the platform) sell fashion products.
