Redwing’s Pilot Test: Drone Services Network for Medicines
In order to serve the remote town of Seppa in the East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, Redwing Aerospace, a private drone manufacturing, and services firm based in Bengaluru has tested a drone services network for Medicines.
The network will serve the district’s public healthcare needs because the district’s steep geography makes it challenging to maintain on-road medical services.
The Arunachal Pradesh government is also a participant in the drone network study which aims to provide access to medical care and medicines in the far-flung district.
In fact, the Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone delivery trials that started in Telangana, in conjunction with the WEF, is being carried out as part of the pilot drone delivery project in Arunachal’s East Kameng district. The drone delivery trials held in Hyderabad, Telangana in September of last year featured eight consortia, including Redwing Aerospace and other drone manufacturing and service firms from India like Skye Air Mobility and TechEagle.
Samridh’s project director, Himanshu Sikka, stated that the program is continuing its trials in India to address “supply chain problems” in the medical field.
According to Vignesh Santhanam, head of aerospace and drones at the WEF, India’s liberalized drone policies have enabled startups and other organizations to “stress test” drone delivery systems, and the initial pilot project in Telangana has set the stage for additional tests to be conducted throughout the nation.
Anshul Sharma, the chief executive of the company, claimed that Seppa, Arunachal Pradesh’s trial drone network will aim to accomplish a similar end result.
Drone usage has increased in industries like defense as well. In order to indigenously develop and custom-build drones for use in diverse applications with India’s armed forces, the Drone Federation of India and the Army Design Bureau signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 8.
