IRCTC to partner with Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal
The India Railways is reportedly considering a partnership with all the major eCommerce brands including Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal to offer shopping experience for travelers during the journey. If reports are true, this move is likely to redefine the entire train and eCommerce sector in India.
The deal will be on a profit-sharing basis and the railways will allow e-commerce companies to set up warehouses and pick-up points across 400 stations.
India is a country where more than half billion people use railways to commute on regular basis. This partnership will be an opportunity for eCommerce brands to explore the untapped market. In addition, the Indian Railways has already entered into an agreement with Google to offer hi-speed wifi connection in more than 100 stations, the scheme has already been implemented at all major stations.
