Indian Ranks Third in Tech Startup Exits

In a report published by CB Insights, India has been ranked as the third highest tech startup exits for 2016, after US and UK.

The US led the list with 857 M&A/IPOs, followed by the UK with 135. Indian startups witnessed 86 M&As, down from 96 in the second half of 2015. There were 1590+ exits in the first half of 2016, a 17% decrease over the same period in 2015. On a quarterly basis, overall exit activity reached 820 exits in Q2’16, a 6% increase over Q1’16. After an anemic Q1’16, there were 16 tech IPOs in Q2’16. Every country in the top 5 had exits dominated by the internet sector. Both India and Canada saw mobile exit activity account for 20%+ in the first half of 2016.
