Google’s Announcement: Startup School India Program for Indian Startups
Google today announced the commencement of Startup School India (SSI) as a component of Google’s Startup program. For companies in smaller cities to access and learn from the best, Google will use this platform to bring together financiers, seasoned business people, and programmers.
The Startup School India was founded with the intention of connecting with as many Indian startups as possible. With this program, Google hopes to connect with at least 10,000 entrepreneurs.
The nine-week SSI program will be given digitally and will include fireside discussions with Google leaders and forward-thinking collaborators from the startup environment, covering fintech, D2C, B2B, and B2C e-commerce, language, and social media & networking, job search, and many more areas.
India is the third-biggest country in the world for the creation of startups with close to 70,000 of them. And when more Indian founders succeed in taking their businesses IPO or reaching unicorn status, it has sparked aspirations among young Indians all around the nation & creating a positive feedback loop.
According to Aditya Swamy who the director of Play Partnerships at Google, nearly 90% of all startups fail within the first five years of their existence. These failures are frequently caused by uncontrolled financial burn, faulty demand estimation, inadequate feedback loops, or a lack of leadership.
Startups from smaller cities who are searching for knowledge sharing to aid them in the next step are the target audience for the program. There is a demand for programs that can integrate this information into a structured curriculum and offer it across a large footprint as businesses emerge in farther-flung regions of the country.
Access to this expertise is crucial because startup activity is booming in tier 2 and 3 cities, according to Karthik Padmanabhan who the manager head of Google’s developer relations program.
The course material will include learning modules on topics like developing a successful product strategy, going in-depth on product user value, developing road maps and PRDs, creating apps for the next billion users in markets like India, and more.
“Startup School is a fantastic program for reaching founders in India on a large scale. The principles of company formation must be properly thought out so that founders can build for the long term as more young, tech-savvy entrepreneurs begin to build their enterprises.” said Gayatri Yadav, Chief Marketing Officer for Southeast Asia India at Sequoia.
