Google & MeitY’s Appscale Academy Programme for Indian Startup

On Wednesday, Google announced that it would work with the Startup Hub of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to help 100 Indian startups through the second iteration of its Appscale Academy programme.

Google’s growth and development initiative known as Appscale Academy which teaches early- to mid-stage entrepreneurs how to create apps. The initiative, which was launched in 2022, assisted 100 startups in scalability last year. Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 programme by the company.

The majority of startups in India are located in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

Google also announced that it would conduct a multi-city roadshow with the goal of interacting with over 1,000 entrepreneurs in emerging startup centres like Surat, Indore, Coimbatore, Gangtok, and Jaipur.

Google outlined the main components of the Appscale Academy programme in a blog post. Early- to mid-stage Indian businesses will be trained during the six-month programme in all facets of developing profitable apps for the global market, including UX design, business model and monetisation strategies, best practises for foreign expansion, and data protection and security procedures.

One hundred selected businesses will receive access to self-learning resources, virtual instructor-led webinars, and mentoring sessions with local and international business experts. These startups will also have the opportunity to present their concepts to international venture capitalists.
