Allo: Google’s All Powered Messaging App
The war to capture the great messaging would have already begun. Google is taking on Apple and Facebook in this messaging war. So what makes Allo special? Well, it has a wealth of data about what we do and searches for online, and the billions of dollars it has invested in machine learning.
When a message is sent via Allo, it creates smart replies akin to those found in Inbox. For example, if someone sends you a picture of dancing, you can immediately tap on a series of well-tuned responses: “So amazing,” “Great Moves,” and “Truly Sensual.”
The most remarkable feature of the app is ‘Google Assistant,’ which provides smart answers to the questions—whether it is about the latest news update on the stocks or which movie is playing near your area. You can also invite the Assistant into a group chat inside Allo by typing “@google” into a text box. Go incognito is Allo’s Snapchat feature, the aforementioned incognito mode that lets you send private end-to-end encrypted messages that can be made to disappear after they’ve been read. The sender can set the expiration for these messages, anywhere from five seconds
to one week.
