Flipkart expects a 17x growth in its fashion sales during the upcoming discount period
Flipkart, the domestic ecommerce behemoth locked in a bitter fight with Amazon, is expecting 17 times jump in its fashion business during the upcoming Big Billion Day (BBD) sale. With Fashion expected to account ~60% sale on the BBD platform, the firm has certainly set its eyes straight on this category. Rishi Vasudeva, Head of Fashion & Lifestyle at Flipkart, said that “Over the years, Big Billion Days sale has emerged as the name synonymous with festive shopping in the country, bringing more and more Indians to shop online. Fashion is one of the biggest categories which will drive more than 60% of all sales during this event”. He further added that “In a run up to festive season, Flipkart Fashion has significantly scaled selection topped with exclusive ranges from popular brands, crazy deals and countless choices”.
In anticipation of the rise in demand, the platform has doubled its inventory capacity for fashion products as compared to last year. Fashion has become a mainstay for both Flipkart and Amazon. Amazon has started Fashion Studio wherein the firm allows customers to try 2-3 products to choose from. Seeing the potential, no one is leaving a stone unturned in enticing the aspirational customers.
