Non-ICU processes getting importance under a new healthcare startup
Statis Lab, a healthcare startup, is focusing on improving the quality of medical care provided to the patients once they are shifted outside ICU. The startup has built a cloudpowered vitals monitoring solution which consists of a small rectangular box, which monitors vitals such as heart rate, blood oxygen, electrocardiogram, respiratory rate, blood pressure and temperature, and a tablet that streams waveforms and vitals in real time. The same data is shared with the doctors so that they can remotely take care of their patients.
Dinesh Seemakurty, co-founder of Statis Lab, explained his vision and logic behind the idea. He said that “Once you leave the ICU, the nursing care plummets. Simultaneously we also remove technology, and all of a sudden you go from healthcare that is about information and data to healthcare where patients are raising their hands, requesting for help. Our monitor is family and patient friendly. If you see yellow, you call a nurse, green means all is good. We are bridging the gap between doctor and patients”.
The uniqueness about the solution is that it is not new, and is already provided by other players. However, the hospital were not able to use those since there were separate records for all the patients and it was very difficult for the emergency staff to tackle all in one go. Statis Lab simplified the solution by provided light guided instructions so that it is easier for the staff to identify and tackle any incident. It is currently implemented in Narayana Health and Cloudnine hospital chains, however, the founders are yet to decide on the pricing of the service.
