Beverage discovery app Hipcask raises pre-series A funding

Mumbai-based beverage discovery app Hipcask has raised an undisclosed pre-series A funding led by Singapore-based restaurant marketing and customer engagement platform Mobikon , angel investors Sandipan Chattopadhay, Surojit Niyogi, Founder of Perk.com, Rajesh Sawhney, Roshan Abbas and Japan Vyas.

The funding will be used to strengthen the technology and improve customer acquisition efforts. “With this move, Mobikon becomes a significant stakeholder in the startup and will leverage this partnership in order to unlock the latent potential in the gifting and pre-pay platform,” the company said in a statement.

Founded in 2012 by Aneesh Bhasin and Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya, Hipcask, formerly Indian Wine List, is India’s first wine & spirits’ focused smartphone app and consumer platform. Hipcask is also the first product in India to provide comprehensive data and analytics in the alcohol domain and helps brands reach out and engage their consumers like never before.
