Infibeam to venture into education technology space
Infibeam Corporation, one of the early entrants into e-commerce segment in the country, is planning to venture into the fast-growing education technology space by leveraging its current loyal set of customers. It had acquired DRC Systems, a provider of enterprise resource planning technology, which will play a central role in the new venture.
Vishal Mehta, MD Infibeam, explain the firm’s plans stating that “With India getting digitalized, education would be one of the primary sectors where digitalization will speed up. Thus, there exists a huge potential to tap the burgeoning education sector during this transition phase. We will be a single vendor for educational institutions, providing them everything under one roof”. He further added that “Parents spend on their children irrespective of the economic condition as it is need-based consumption for their children’s future, thus the growth potential in the sector is immense, and we look forward to exploring it”.
Although the global e-learning market is of ~$100 billion, the domestic market is only 1/100th of that but is estimated to grow at an annual rate of 20%. The company’s strategy for this phase is to focus on potential repeat customers, or need-based customers, such as students and their parents.
