LuvStay: Promising a Safe & Happy Rendezvous for Lovers

India is progressing to be a super economy and conquering the cosmos with its ingenious space programs, yet as a society, we are still clinging to puritanical beliefs. And more often than not, unmarried couples suffer the most from this twisted social attitude.

While cattle strolling on busy road amidst bustling traffic or people littering public places is an acceptable sight in our country, couples holding hands or embracing in public spaces is considered highly offensive. Young unwed couples in India find it really difficult to spend some quality time away from prying eyes.

To add to this tyranny, most hotels frequently deny unmarried couples to check-in. And even if they somehow find a hotel accommodation they are never free from the risk of encountering hidden cameras or police raids, or both.

Thankfully, there is a startup working hard to alleviate this pain point. LuvStay, a couple-friendly hotel aggregator, is set out to break taboos and change societal mindsets.

Founded by Sumit Anand and Amardeep Khichi, this New Delhi based startup is onboarding hotels that are welcoming to unwed couples and ensure their safety and privacy.

Conceived from an unpleasant personal experience of one of the founders, the team at LuvStay is fiercely determined to provide couples a hassle-free access to spaces where they can be together without having to worry about discourteous staff, shady surroundings or hidden cameras.

“We have a comprehensive 20-point checklist for each of the hotel we list on LuvStay,” reveals Sumit Anand, Founder of LuvStay, “Our main objective is to provide unmarried couples of legal age (over 18 years) a stress free quality time,” he adds.

So how does it work?

“Our team relentlessly visits good hotels and convinces them about our proposition. We tell them there is a big untapped market waiting to be explored and there is nothing wrong in giving two consenting adults a room if they have proper IDs and are willing to pay the tariff. More importantly, we educate them about the Indian Constitution, which poses no restriction on consenting adults to hire a hotel room,” shares Amardeep Khichi, Co-Founder of LuvStay. LuvStay is also a brainchild and idea of Mr Sumit Anand.

Present in 11 cities at the moment, LuvStay is reaching out to more and more hotels across various cities in India each day. And while the going was tough initially, with only two or three hotels out of ten agreeing to be on LuvStay’s portal, things are changing for good now.

“Today, we have over 100 + hotels listed on our platform across 17 cities in India,” beams Sumit.

LuvStay is flipping the hospitality industry on its head by offering services never heard before.

“We are allowing users to book the hotel even for a part of the day, helping them save money. So, at LuvStay, users can not only find hotels that are welcoming to the couples, but they can actually hire a room just for 10 hours,” explains Amardeep.

The founders at LuvStay insists that though the portal is primarily for unwed couples, even married couples, singles and business travellers are also welcomed to book hotels through the portal.

It is not hard to imagine that LuvStay is getting immensely popular, especially among unmarried couples.

“We receive over 3000 hits on our website each day, and we have recently achieved 1,000 bookings,” reveals Sumit – indeed a great traction in such a short span of launching.

The bootstrapped company is continually looking out for avenues to increase its reach and enhance user experience. With added conveniences for users such as cakes, flowers and other gifts delivered at the place of stay, LuvStay is fast becoming the preferred platform for millions of love-struck couples who simply ask for some privacy and quality time each other.
