India’s first social incubation center opens up in Telangana

Kakatiya Hub, launched by the Telangana Government, is expected to be the first social incubation center in the country which will act as a rural incubator focusing on encouraging entrepreneurship at grass root level. The startup incubator center, funded by the state government and expected to be operational by September’17, will be run through Kakatiya Sandbox, a center that fosters entrepreneurship and innovation modelled after Deshpande Foundation’s Hubli Sandbox.

Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary in Telangana Government, said that “There are a large number of problems to be solved in rural areas and people who are familiar with them should be in the best position to solve the problems. However, rural entrepreneurs need structured guidance and an incubator is the best way of providing a necessary ecosystem and support to them. The government will make sure the rural incubator in Telangana will be run in the same manner as any other incubator like Hyderabad’s T-Hub, which is also backed by the Telangana government.

Sandbox is a concept which is brought in the country by Mr. Gururaj Deshpande, who is also the founding father of T-Hub the incubator center which recently opened in Hyderabad.
