Foodwall: Chennai Welcomes New Social Media Platform for Food Lovers
An in-house social media platform for food has now been developed in Chennai. The platform, known as Foodwall, will assist users in engaging in any and all food-related activities. One major issue that almost all of us have is deciding where to eat out. We are always hesitant to try new places because we are unsure of their quality. For food recommendations, there are no organized platforms. Saravan Krishna M who is the founder and CEO of Foodwall, said we can help with that.
In 2018, when Saravan first met Amogh Arunkumar, a buddy from high school, he got the idea to launch this platform. Within a few months, he had enlisted him as a co-founder and chief customer officer. We both went to Chettinad Vidyashram, so we are aware of each other’s benefits. Additionally, Amogh, a former restaurateur, places the user at the center of the app and makes sure they have a positive experience, according to Mr. Krishna, a graduate of the College of Engineering Guindy and IIM-Bangalore.
Since its launch on June 12, Foodwall has amassed over 700 users and is currently accessible on iOS and Android. Over the following 100 days, the creators want to connect with over one lakh users. The firm, which right now focuses on the Chennai market, has plans to go out to other significant Indian cities and hopes to enter the American market by the end of this year. Mr. Krishna responded to the question of why the U.S. was chosen by saying, “The U.S. is the heart of social networks and when we want to go global, we want the U.S. to be the first place”. The startup is also assessing markets outside of the United States.
When queried whether such a platform was necessary in light of the internet’s abundance of recommendations and evaluations for food, Mr. Krishna said that the majority of platforms are biassed in favour of eateries. He pointed out that “their first customer is the restaurant, whereas for us our first customer is the user” and went on to say that “Like how LinkedIn is for professionals, Foodwall is a site for food lovers”.
The firm, which is entirely self-funded, is looking to raise money for its expansion goals, technology upgrades, and marketing improvements.
