India: World’s Third Largest Ecosystem for Startups

According to Union Minister Smriti Irani, with more than 84,400 startups functioning across 656 districts nationwide India has become the third-largest ecosystem for startups in the world.

Only 720 startups existed in the nation in 2014, according to Irani.

She added that Indian unicorns were valued at USD 332.7 billion.

Irani was reported as saying in a BJP statement: “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has emerged as the third-largest ecosystem of startups with more than 84,400 startups in 656 districts all over the country.

The minister claimed that when Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014, he declared that his goal would be to foster an environment where young people would be “job creators rather than job seekers.”

Irani claimed that Prime Minister Modi had taken a number of initiatives to empower young people, including the Mudra Yojana, Make in India, Start-up India, and Stand-up India programmes.

Regarding the economy, she noted that India has risen to the fifth-largest economy in the world over the past eight years.

“The youth have taken the lead in India’s economic development by making progress while following Prime Minister Modi’s guidance. The youth, according to our prime minister, are the nation’s strength. Moreover, they represent the future”, she stated here.
