Google’s Investment in Women-Led Startups Via India Digitisation Fund

According to a top corporate official on Monday, Google intends to concentrate on investing in early-stage startups driven by women through its 75,000 crore India Digitisation Fund.

To make internet access more accessible, the company raised $10 billion, or around Rs. 75,000 crore at the time of publication.

The corporation spent $4.5 billion and $700 million through Google India Digitization Fund (IDF) to acquire 7.73% and 1.20% stakes in Jio and Bharti Airtel, respectively.

At the Google for India event Sanjay Gupta who is a Country Manager & VP of Google India remarked, “Going forward  as part of our IDF investments we will be targeting support for early-stage companies with a specific focus on women-led startups.”

The business unveiled a number of AI-driven technologies, including voice and video search, speech recognition, and more.

“Text content can instantly be converted to video using AI. Almost every language can be translated from English on a large scale. Through enhanced threat identification, AI can significantly improve online safety ” Gupta added.

The business disclosed a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru to gather speech data from 773 districts throughout India in order to hone its language translation and search capabilities.
